If you are setting out for a trip (solo or maybe, with a group), you will meet some interesting people on the way! Some of them will be fun, some might be annoying, some would be thoughtful, and some would turn out to be your favourite travel-buddy!
No matter how they are, by the end of the journey, you’ll realize that they’ve all contributed a bit in making your travel tale worthy! I believe that all your journeys are like chapters in the book of life, and every person we meet/ interact with, has something or the other to add to those chapters – in fact, they are the characters of our own stories of life.
Scroll down to read about a few such travellers whom you must have met or will eventually meet during your journeys! I’m sure you’ll try to correlate them to someone, and you’d have a smile on your face thinking of them!
Here are the different kinds of travellers you’ll meet on the way!
1. The Selfie Master! One Who’s An Over-Enthusiastic Clicker
You’ll find these travellers with new found love for photography, and they’d want to click everything. ‘Let’s get a picture together!’ ‘Hey, hold my bag. I need to take a picture!’ ‘Let’s stand there. I need to take a picture!’ ‘Wow! Look at that, I’m taking a picture” – and this list would go on and on! Also, if you’re not that interested, you’ll find them clicking their own photos, err Selfies, I mean! They know all the tips and hacks of getting that perfect snapshot with the best pout! It won’t stop there, as they would also upload those selfies on their social media! The latest smartphones and digicams have redefined the sense of photography! So, ‘Say Cheese’ and get clicked!
2. The Cribber! One Who’d Complain About Everything
Oh! And how can you not find a cribber! You know how it’s like when this one person is travelling with you, who’ll crib over everything – why there’s less cheese in the burger, why there are two pillows instead of 3, why he/she can’t get the window seat etc.! They can get into your nerves at times, being picky about everything. They would never take initiatives but always be the first one to complain! Maybe you can stay at a distance from such a company, as they surely ruin the journey for others!
3. The Borrower! One Who Forgot to Pack All The Important Stuff
Another bug in the group, this person has just brought himself and left the rest at home! And he/she can irritate the hell out of you, asking for every damn thing on this planet. “Can I borrow your toothpaste?” “Are you carrying your shampoo?” “Do you have an extra pair of socks?” “Would you mind sharing your earphones?” – Travelling with such people might be a difficult task, and more so, when you have to say “Yes” for everything, out of politeness! The fact is that travelling needs a lot of planning, and one will surely miss things out if the packing is done at the last minute! If you know someone who’s a borrower, maybe you can keep him/her updated about the things to pack!
4. The Travel Couple! Those Setting A #RelationshipGoal For Everyone Else
Of course, you can’t miss them! They might even make you feel a little sad at times, as well as a little awkward! But they are fun to be around as they’ll keep you entertained with all their stories from different places and all the adventures they’ve had, while on the roads! You’ll find them clicking their pictures at a spot, which they would mark as ‘Instagrammable’ and even if that spot isn’t much attractive, you’ll be blown to see the fantastic post they’ll share! They’ll make you feel lonely, especially over meals when they feed each other or while taking a walk by the beach, when they’d hold hands! If they are around, you’ll feel the love in the air!
5. The Foodie! One Who’d Always Want To Take Charge Of Ordering In A Restaurant
There’s one kind of traveller who’s more keen on savouring the local, authentic cuisine, rather than exploring the place! Their main aim is to gobble as much as they can, and click some photos of the delicacies when they are laid out, which can be uploaded with hashtags like #FoodForLife or #FoodPorn, etc.! They’ll grab the menu card the moment you enter the restaurant, and somehow, everyone will agree to whatever he/she orders! Surprisingly, the food ordered will turn out to be good, and everyone will enjoy it! Thus, the foodies always remains a favourite one, and as they say, ‘Those who love to eat are the best people in the world’.
6. The Blogger! One Who’s Pretty Engrossed Scribbling Things
There’s one person who’s actually taking this journey quite seriously! He/she is jotting things down – places visited, routes taken, best restaurants in the area, etc. This one is definitely a blogger and will narrate a beautiful story out of this trip. And probably, you’re missing out little things on the way, which you’ll come across when you read those blogs! Thanks to these travellers, for making journeys easier for others as well as for inspiring & encouraging others to travel. Travel blogging, in recent years, has increased manifold, and the tourism industry is incredibly reaping the benefits.
7. The Social Butterfly! One Who’s Just Hooked To The Phone!
You’ll find them clicking photographs (not Selfies though!) and instantly sharing them on Instagram and Facebook! They might also be taking videos, narrating about the place and how beautiful things are – and adding a ‘Check In’ status along with that. They know exactly which hashtag is going to work and have every knowledge of getting more Followers/ Likes! They might even be a Vlogger/ YouTuber and knows nearly everything that’s happening in the world!
Maybe you’ve also identified the kind that you are! (LOL)
For sure, I’m a lovebird traveling (read: backpacking) mostly with my partner and we often find ourselves surrounded by the other types as well.
